    CURRICULUM COORDINATOR POSITION
  • Seeking an experienced, mid-level professional, who is knowledgeable in special education procedures, practices, and curriculum development that is researched-based and personalized. This individual should be a seasoned educational leader with a collaborative, student-centered approach to educational programming.
  • Preferred- Hold an 092 CT administrative certification and a 065 CT special education certification.
  • Experience in therapeutic day programs, the IEP process, and partnership with community agencies and families.
  • Proven track record of developing and culling curricular materials that are consistent with the needs of students with special education challenges.
  • Able to design and implement a professional development program focused on curricular materials and strategies that are evidence-based and results-oriented.
  • Highly skilled with providing supervision, coaching, and collaborative problem-solving with a seasoned team of faculty and staff.
  • Believes in the mission of a private special education school.
    VISUAL AND GRAPHIC ARTS & ANIMATION TEACHER
  • Develop and teach courses and workshops in visual arts and design.
  • Implement positive contingency behavior management system, including precise data collection.
  • Collaborate with other program specialists and teachers on curriculum development, instruction and student activities and classes.
  • Consult effectively with teachers, instructors, teaching assistants, residential house parents, clinicians and administrators on best practices and strategies when working with students.
  • Communicate clearly, accurately and descriptively in writing and verbally when describing student performance, behaviors, strengths and challenges.
  • Maintain current educational certifications and other credentials related to the assigned position.
    CLINICIAN
  • Master’s Degree required and proper CT state certification or license required.
  • Provide family, individual, and group therapy to students in twelve-month school/residential program
  • Behavior management with integrated services are provided to children and adolescents with ADHD, Asperger’s, LD, and Mood and Anxiety Disorder, Cognitive-Behavioral orientation and experience a plus
  • Opportunity for research and experiential treatment, including wilderness programs
  • Master’s level degree and license/certification eligible
    AWAKE OVERNIGHT HOUSE PARENT
  • Experience in elementary age to adolescent development to provide life skills for children with learning and emotional difficulties.
  • Awake Overnight staff must stay awake the entire shift. Half-hour and random bed checks must be performed. Data entry required. Targeted behaviors need to be recorded. Morning routine of the students is rehearsed and medication administration is performed.
  • Staff are required to maintain a valid public passenger endorsement for the transportation of students. Staff are also required to maintain certification in CPR and safe child restraint procedures.
  • Staff must be able to lift 20 pounds frequently and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Associates degree preferred.
  • Stable work history required.
  • Four day work week 11:00 p.m. – 8:30 a.m.
    RESIDENTIAL HOUSE PARENT

  • Provide nurture, care and total residential experience in a solution focused, positive contingency management, home model.
  • Provide instruction in daily living skills. Including grocery shopping, preparing and cooking meals, shopping for household items, hanging curtains, airing bedding, cleaning and tidying specific rooms in the home, changing light bulbs, taking out the trash, cleaning the vehicle, packing and unpacking bags, etc.
  • Identify and develop age-appropriate independent living skills.
  • Participate as a part of an interdisciplinary treatment team in the development of personalized treatment plans.
  • Maintain accurate record keeping and data collection concerning students.
  • Opportunities for involvement in adventure based experiences both on the Connecticut campus and at the Maine based wilderness extension of the TLC program House Managers are required to maintain a valid public passenger endorsement for the transportation of students. Staff are also required to maintain
    certification in CPR and safe child restraint procedures.
